 1st Annual Iron Chef Competition

Thank you to the MOWA Young Professional Board and Nick Leahy of Saltyard for organizing our first annual Iron Chef Competition. It was a great night and we crowned Chef Zeb Stevenson of Watershed as the winner! We appreciate Jason Hall and Tim Magee for providing a strong competition, as well as our judges; Kate Parham Kordsmeier, Shelley Skiles Sawyer and Stephanie Dazey! We’re already looking forward to next year!

Community Resource Event

Meals On Wheels Atlanta hosted its first annual two day Community Resource Event. The event was organized as an informational session for seniors to have direct access to community partners resources. We had 32 vendors and 250 Neighborhood Senior Center members participate in this wonderful initiative. Guests were able to learn more about our Adult Day program; and actively participate in an art project facilitated by our very own Jan Franklin. A special thanks goes out to our outstanding members, vendors, staff and volunteers alike. A special thanks to our Georgia Works partners who helped to provide housekeeping and janitorial support for the event. We certainly are grateful to all those who had a hand at making this event a success.

Opportunities to Give Back

Adopt a Senior!

Get in the holiday spirit and help a senior feel special this holiday season! Meals On Wheels Atlanta is collecting gifts from the community for our seniors. These gifts will be delivered on Christmas Eve by volunteers. You can contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Morgan Johnson, at mjohnson@mealsonwheelsatlanta.org to find out how to adopt your senior today and receive their “wish list”! Please have gifts to Meals On Wheels Atlanta by December 14, 2015. Volunteers will be wrapping presents on Wednesday, December 16th.

Be #Unselfie for Meals On Wheels Atlanta

As we prepare for Georgia Gives Day on November 12, we want to see your stories of why you give your time and money to Meals On Wheels Atlanta. We’d like you to help us out by taking an #unselfie. What’s an unselfie? It’s a “selfie” of yourself to promote your support of Meals On Wheels Atlanta

Between now and November 2, take a selfie that shows why you're giving to Meals On Wheels Atlanta. Post it to your Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, and tag it #unselfie and #GAgivesday and please mention Meals On Wheels Atlanta. We’re @MOWAtlanta on Twitter, @mealsonwheelsatlanta on Instagram and you can find us at www.Facebook.com/MealsOnWheelsAtlanta. From all across the state, the top three vote-getters will receive a donation to the nonprofit of their choice in their name. Will you join us?

Urgent Need!

We need your help to deliver meals! There are many seniors in need in our community and we are experiencing a significant spike in the amount of new clients. That’s where you come in!

We are seeking Volunteer Drivers for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays to deliver meals to our seniors in the morning time. If you are able to lend a helping hand any day in October, please contact Volunteer Services at 404-351-6194 or volunteercoordinator@mealsonwheelsatlanta.org.
