This month, we were lucky enough to have volunteers from The Coca-Cola Company help us out in almost every area of operation, including: Adult Day Health, Meal Packing, Meal Delivery,  and Northside Senior Center. They packed over 600 meals in the kitchen, and then delivered nine different routes in the Fulton County area.

The volunteers who did not deliver helped with games, arts and crafts, and serving meals in Northside and ADH. In addition, these wonderful volunteers made Fourth of July cards to hand out to our seniors. We are so grateful for all of their hard work!

Barbara Kelly has been volunteering at Dogwood Senior Center five days a week for seven years. She helps with meal time, shopping trips and when someone just needs a hug. The seniors are like family to her, and she has formed special bonds with them. She says, "I wake up every morning looking forward to seeing my seniors at Dogwood, it's my second home". The reason she donates her time is simple; she just likes to help others where she can.

Meals On Wheels America, in congruence with the Ad Council, is launching a massive campaign this month to encourage people to volunteer with home delivered meal programs across the country. We are excited to be a part of this campaign and share how vital volunteers are to these organizations.

With the senior population projected to double by 2050, Meals on Wheels needs to recruit a whole new wave of volunteers to serve the growing need. Meals on Wheels, which consists of more than 5,000 local programs in virtually every community in America, relies on an army of two million volunteers who deliver meals to seniors in need every day.
