Spa Day

Earlier this week, Empire Beauty School at Dunwoody visited the Adult Day Health (ADH) center with 20 of their cosmetology students.   These students spent the morning offering our ADH seniors a fun day of beauty treatments.  The Seniors had manicures and their hair cut & styled if they so wished.  Even the men in the group joined in on the fun!   It was such an awesome experience for both the seniors and the students – everyone left feeling good that day!

Our Adult Day Health program provides specialized care for seniors living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Open Mon – Fri, ADH is Medicaid approved and enables our clients to remain in their homes with their families longer. For more information about ADH, contact Brett Perriman at (404) 352-1897 or bperriman@mealsonwheelsatlanta.org.

Mayor's Mom visits MOWA!

What a treat! Recently, Ms. Sylvia Reed, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed's Mom and the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services volunteered with us to deliver Meals On Wheels.  Ms. Reed's visit helped MOWA wrap up our monthlong March for Meals campaign.  With Ms. Reed's help we were also able to draw attention to the fact that Meals On Wheels Atlanta now has over 200 Seniors on our Meal Services waiting list. Come volunteer with us to help reduce this number!

 Don't forget Mother's Day!!

Celebrate a Special Mom in Your Life with a Gift to the Monica Pearson Mother’s Day Fund!

Did your mother always tell you to “Clean your plate!” when you were a child? Our moms knew the importance of proper nutrition, and I know that for many of us our most cherished memories are of being in the kitchen with our mothers or grandmothers.

Today, more than 200 older adults are on our waiting list for meals. Most of them are mothers, grandmothers, sisters, and aunts. They are women who have spent their entire lives helping their loved ones, making sure no one went hungry. Now these same women need YOUR help to fill their plates with nutritious food.

With a contribution to the Monica Pearson Mother’s Day Fund, your gift will help feed a senior who, after a lifetime of preparing meals for her family, can no longer prepare them for herself. We’ll even send a Mother’s Day card to your loved one to recognize the gift made in her honor!

Visit www.mealsonwheelsatlanta.org to make a Mother’s Day gift today!

Sunday Suppers Begin!

Meals On Wheels Atlanta is celebrating its 3rd annual Sunday Suppers. These are intimate dinners hosted by MOWA supporters who graciously open their beautiful homes for an evening of delicious food prepared by Atlanta’s finest chefs, wine and an opportunity to mingle with friends while raising money to support MOWA. We host several dinners on three selected nights. This year’s dates are Sundays: April 27, May 4 and May 18. There is still time to purchase tickets to a dinner. Volunteer Spotlight

It's been a great month of volunteers here at MOWA! We were fortunate to have Triage Consulting Group come to MOWA headquarters and volunteer their time!  We also were visited by a couple of young Spring breakers who volunteered their time in the kitchen and with Adult Day Helath.

Volunteers from the Wesley Foundation at Georgia Tech and the Peachtree Atlanta Kiwanis Club, including board member, Yvonne Conway, came out for our event Saturday April 12, 2014, where they did yard maintenance for a client in East Point GA.

Thanks for all your hard work & help!  Meals On Wheels Atlanta really couldn't do it without you!
